"Beware"
The below ratings are correct. If you dont mind being spied on, get this. If you like a little privacy in your life, run away. Run FAR away. Google does and will collect EVERYTHING IT CAN about you, and then sell it. by: Scooby | 1 | 2009-08-30 |

"you must be mad"
this desktop will sit quietly running in the background and collecting your data and sending it back to good old google where it will be sold on to some third party for market research. its a fact that your info will lie in google storage for a minimum of 90 days. if you are happy with that then use this program. ohh its also a fact that the google accelerator was pulled after investigation when it was revealed that it did "not" speed up your browsing but it did store your data. also if you run a google toolbar try uninstalling it from your system! i assure you when you re boot it will still be there! theres a word for a file that re generates, its called a virus. by: stuart | 2 | 2009-03-11 |

"Consider it Spyware"
Anytime software constantly requires to be connected to the Internet, I consider it SpyWare. (Operating systems aside) I have no idea where the information on my computer is going, other than making a mess of the hard drives. by: QHoT | 3 | 2008-03-06 |

"Meh"
I have never found any of these indexing desktop programs to be particularly useful. Just extra memory baggage IMO. Apps like Thunderbird and even indexed Windows Explorer provide sufficient searching capabilities. by: extrap | 2 | 2008-02-29 |

"crap"
hey oamey you must be one of those people who enjoys filling out customer survey forms and watching the x factor as you beleive they are genuinely talented singers. you probably supported madcap bush and blair in iraq and think your boss is your idol.you go to partys and get ignored all nite staring at the cds and reaking off wee.. if you dont mind being a puppet and are satisfied with google invading your rear end with a big fat anal probe then good luck to you. the world needs sheep like you but im sure you will feel the same when someones cloned your identity and ruined your credit limit by obtaining data from good old google.. by: hoppy | 1 | 2008-01-12 |

"privacy in peril"
Just to see what it actually does, I installed this on my testing pc, which is a fresh install of Windows XP SP2. I was shocked to see what this software does in the background. As far as I can judge those suspicious processes, it actually logs your surfing behaviour and sends it to Google. Not very nice! by: Fred | 1 | 2008-01-10 |

"No, thanks"
Google wants to know what's going on in my computer.
The same thing does Picasa.

"Exploits your habits and calls home to Google"
I recommend avoiding all products from Google. It has been reported they all have built-in backdoor to exploit the users and collect data to create a profile for each. by: Geek Doctor | 1 | 2007-12-14 |

"Use it at your own risk"
I've seen some reviewers here say that persons who worried about Google Desktop being a security risk were "paranoid" and "losers." However, sure enough, Google Desktop has indeed turned out to be a big security risk to its users. If you want to read the ugly truth for yourself, go to www.computerworld.com and do a search for "google desktop security." Then just read the articles that pop up in your search results. Anyway, those articles convinced me that Google Desktop -- at least when the option to store info on Google's servers is turned on -- is just too plain risky to be trusted. by: CharlieOrlando | 2 | 2007-03-07 |
