CamStudio v2.5 Beta
Pros: I rated this a 4 two days but I now know how to make it a solid 5.
This is without a doubt the Best free Video capture available. Cons: none Other Thoughts: The reason I rated it a 4 originally was because the picture quality wasn't as good as some of the others .
But now that I did a little experimenting I know how to fix that and make the picture very good.
All you need to do is go to the cam studio site and download their lossless 1.4 Codec , this makes a huge difference in picture quality and pushes this program to # 1 in my opinion.
And remember this company doesn't try to force any tool bars on you or take over your home page.
This is a very good company.

"Pretty Good"

Pros: On advise from several friends I downloaded the 2.0 version of Cam Studio .
They have used it for a while in XP and liked it a lot.
I personally went to their site to load it. Cons: none at all Other Thoughts: This isn't the best recorder around but the version I have ( 2.0 ) works fine .
The color isn't perfect but it's not bad.
A major plus with this software is that it will not force a toolbar on you or try to take over your home page.
A few of the better ones do that and it's a pain in the neck to rid yourself of their added crap.

Cons: How can I say this-if you download aprogram and everything in these little files that need to be unpacked or extracted. So, usually you have one file that is a .exe file to deal with-you know-simple and easy. On this software-one you extract all when you really did not extract all because you got the one done and then screen disappears and maybe I will find something using the search featires in Windows 7-I guess giving instructions would be such a heart break to do?I think you would be more successful in killing yourself with a happer as opposed to making something that works and easy to understand-or writing instructions. Other Thoughts: This is an excellent product, everything works. I used and tried the first version and this one is just as good.
the sound does work; you have to change your recording setting first in you OS then select in the program's options to record voice, the quality you need and etc. the voice my be a little off, but there is something to fix that too in the program. Do not download anything from SpeedApps.com.
This product does not include spyware. The developer of CamStudio has full contact information on their website including their phone number.

Other Thoughts: There is something called DESKTOP ACTIVITY RECORDER, from SPEEDAPPS.COM that happens to be an EXACT CLONE of this except for the cosmetic ( icon ) changes......and it installs extreme SPYWARE.Was this review helpful? 36 out of 61 users found this review helpful.
