PSPad Editor 4.5.7.2432 Beta
Pros: 1.Setup allows user to select language. English is the default.
2.The problem of wrong encoding is solved. An ANSI text file is shown as ANSI and not UTF-8.

"NOW WORKS"

Other Thoughts: Here is the fix without wading through endless forum posts: create a lang folder under where you run pspad, and put english.ini (or whatever other language you want) in that folder. I revise my rating from 1 to 5. I haven't used the program extensively yet, and hope it includes column selection and editing like multi-edit, but it seems to be very rich in features and capabilities. Excellent program!

"Foreign Language"

Other Thoughts: It looks very interesting - a worthy replacement for Multi-Edit which my company won't buy for me (they all use VI editor). I was completely frustrated when the program comes up in a foreign language - what a shame! All the functionality appears to be there, but the program is useless unless it is in English. Don't waste your time on this one - unless you can read whatever language it was written in. The English.ini file is there, but I can't read the help menu to figure out how to install it. "wrong default coding system"

Other Thoughts: Using PsPAD 4.5.4 to open an ANSI coded text file. In the Format Menu, it wrongly shows the document is in UTF-8.
When I saved the same as is, supposedly it is converted to utf-8, but actually it is still saved as ANSI.
