"Buggy"

I rated this a 4 since it helps keep filesharing alive.

But the interface makes you feel like you are trying to use a complex app in a modern world of cleaner computer designs.

Read, we want simpler! How hard is it to make something that just searches for music, finds it, downloads it, & is easy to operate without offering horrors, the kitchen sink too?

Cabos is a very clean, simple, easy to use client that tries to offer only functions that are necessary for users who download, while Limewire just has the feel of someone who hurriedly slapped whatever interface they could find onto a program & called it peer 2 peer!

Hope you do better on the design, guys. This ain't cutting it! Cabos wins for now!

"I'm happy with it"

I've been using Limewire for a couple of months now and just downloaded a newer version. The software is great and I love all the music I'm getting with it. The best review I've read about it is here http://www.ez-tracks.com/review/LimeWire.com.html

"100% CPU Usage!!!"

What the heck!!, this program works good until the CPU goes up to 100%!! This must be some sort of pesky bug that randomly kills my processor by hogging up all the CPU power. If it was not for that bug I would continue using 5, but now I went back to the latest version of 4, and plan to continue using 4 until I know the bug is gone so I no longer have problems with that stupid CPU bug!!! It's a good start but they need to fix that stupid pesky bug!

"Improvement over 4"

Limewire 5 has much improved over version 4 which has been around for at least a few years. There next major relase was long overdue and it is about time they go 1 more version ahead instead of sticking with the same "old" version for 3+ years and just doing minor updates! The only problem sometimes with version 5 is it can take up 100% of my cpu which causes my computer to lag badly, but I am sure they will have that resolved soon hopefully, but other than that Limewire is pretty good and deserves a 4/5.

"LimeWire 5.0.4 Beta? Not ready for prime time!"

LimeWire 5.0.4 Beta is definitely not ready for release! This Beta is a far cry from LimeWire 4.18.8! I installed it and gave a trial run and promptly re-installed 4.18.8. The Download screen is chaotic, to say the least. The Search screen is lacking file info details, like shooting marbles in the dark! The Options screens are totally different than LW4 releases and lack some necessary details like speed and quality options. Unlike LW4, I couldn't perform a function like "Cancel" for a group of downloads. I could select the downloads with CTRL+A, but could not execute any program functions on the selected group of files. What I'm trying to say is that each file must be acted upon individually and not in a selected group. I suggest that you take this Beta for a spin and then re-install LW4.18.8. Most of the Option settings from the Beta are backward compatible provided that you don't uninstall LW4 and just over install the Beta in the same program folder as LW4. Note the file size of the Beta compared to LW4.18.4! Bloatware!

"Anonymous Filesharing"

If you want to stay anonymous, I recommend either Stealthnet or OFF (Owner-Free File System). Stealthnet works like eMule or Limewire, but users IPs are anonymous. In OFF, user IPs don't have to be anonymous. It works like a network over which random, encrypted file blocks are stored on users' hardisks, but it cannot be proven which data is owned by whom and were it originally comes from. Also nothing is stored on the harddisk that can be interpreted as copyrighted material. Stealthnet is more convenient in usage at the moment, but OFF is faster for downloading, because you can download from multiple sources at the same time (comparable to torrent).

"rubbish"

its not the best as suggested by former reviews, its far from it. to compare limewire with morpheus is a bit like saying pull my tooth out rather than filling it!! both are painful. the database limewire uses is gnutella, which in the last year has been filled with malware and viruses. limewire burns a lot of power and has a stupid initial set up. there are "many" other file sharing programs available which are better and safer. i would reccomend trying a few before you choose limewire and judge it for yourself.

"Not like Napster"

Limewire is not like napster, because it doesn't have every single song, but i'm putting world music out there now, so Limewire will have more music then ever

"to kross"

hi kross. when i tried limewire i wasnt using ares at the same time. i stand by my review though in terms of limewire not being the best fsp. its complicated to set up and requires more power than the space shuttle. its riddled with viruses, malware and spyware and with so many fsp available its been well overtaken by a number of better programs that are more efficient and not tied to the awful gnutella network.
