If you want to uninstall IE8, download REVO Uninstaller, I did and got rid of this crap off my computer. by: Dirtychin | 5 | 2009-06-02 | | | | "Slow As Mollasses"
FireFox is only slightly better. IE8 does remember a lot of stuff though. by: Memphio | 3 | 2009-05-07 | | | | ""
Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 Is great for Windows Vista and Windows 7 Firefox Keeps on crashing alot so Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 is the winner by: | 5 | 2009-03-25 | | | | "SLOW !!!"
Microsoft should give it up! I'll stick with Mozilla Firefox. Its way faster,a lot nicer and,can be customized hundreds of ways. by: svt449 | 2 | 2009-03-22 | | | | "Not bad, but slows PC down."
IE 8 seems very stable and is overall pretty good. My only complaint is that it runs slower than IE 7 on my computer. I have a 1.8GHZ Pentium 4 so on a faster computer you probably wouldn't notice the slow down. The slow down seems to be overall and not just the web browser. Even when I'm not using the browser the computer still seems to be running slower. by: Sorcerer | 4 | 2009-03-21 | | | | "The pain is insane!"
+ Looks pretty... 5 points
+ Is free...
- 6 isn't as pretty... At least it works!
- Crashes over & over again loading tabs, is a pretty huge download, refuses to load certain flash sites.
Overall, I give it a 5 for being pretty, & a 0 for functionality since it doesn't do anything sometimes but just sit there "recovering" from a crashed tab where it refuses to open a flash website that Firefox opened fine, and version 6 of IE did as well.
Now, I use Browzar because they work, & they are tiny & free anytime I need something based on IE.
I am appalled... Some sites load & show the placeholder for a vid, but stop at that. Showing where it should be.
This is a JOKE!
Appearance = 5, but after giving it a bell curve based on being usable, I have to give it a 2 when I factor in that functionality is 0.
At least it looks good! by: Power Grabber | 2 | 2009-03-20 | | | | "LMFAO!!"
What is wrong with you people. First of all it's ONLY a beta release so you should know better then to download it. Second, it's from microsoft LOL!
I NEVER had a problem with using firefox and most likely NEVER will. - Wake up people for the love of God. by: i81b4u | 1 | 2009-03-20 | | | | "Pretty good, But Not Yet."
I suspicious of the negative reviews, confirmed somewhat by many mentioning a preference for other browsers. For those, asking who still uses IE, the answer is me and most computer users worldwide.
Anyway, I've used IE 8 RC1 XP heavily for five days now on a backup/test computer and it's only crashed once. And that one time was a website which often crashed IE 7, and apparently most other browsers judging from the complaints. Further, IE 8 RC1 not slow on a modern PC, with web pages loading almost instantly and downloads handled about as quickly as they can be served. I haven't noticed any specific bugs impacting usage. Menus and buttons work and web pages appear normal.
But, since this is a beta RC, I'd still not recommend installation on a primary computer yet. Wait for the final release version, which will give them time to fix any remaining issues. by: Anonymous Smith | 4 | 2009-02-26 | | | | "worthless"
A lot of expectation of s there even though it is a beta version but still. A lot of bug needs to be fixed by the developer of IE*. Dialog boxes seems to be in shrink size in whichnothing can be seen. etc NOT IN MY MY DOWNLOAD LIST. by: Austin | 1 | 2009-02-08 | | | | "never"
I was Housebound by an ice storm. So I Decided to see if I could get this to work on my backup computer.Uninstalled SP3 Installed IE8 seemed to work OK untill I dounloaded 80 megs of updates and then I had these black bars on my browser.Come on people this aint never gonna work on XP!!!!!! by: alius | 1 | 2009-01-29 | | | | "SLOW!!!"
its still the slowest web browser out there. im sticking with firefox. its fast, safe. and loads faster and doesn't slow down my computer. by: dantheman | 2 | 2009-01-27 | | | | "I rate this a 3!"
The older internet explorer upgrades like IE 5, IE 6, IE 7, IE 8 early beta had problems.
Either they added very little security, or they would crash.
They are getting slightly better with each release it seems, but it seems like they take so long to make it stable & beautiful, compared to Firefox, Opera, & other web browsers!
It isn't terribly bad at the moment, but it isn't close to being as EASY to use as Firefox is yet!
The SMALLEST browser I have found that auto clears your history on exit, & supports tabs is Browzar!
It is under 300 KB! Smaller is better for flash drives, because it loads faster & does less wear! by: Dr Dance | 3 | 2009-01-26 | | | | "kitty litter"
no one in their right mind would choose to download and use this
slow less secure memory hungry less configurable feces
no add-ons or themes
this browser is years behind the rest and a rip off ffox by: | 1 | 2009-01-26 | | | | "OHNO"
I tried all the great advice like uninstalling SP3.No luck! However if you are willing to reformat your drive then give it a try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by: alius | 1 | 2009-01-26 | | | | "Solid, but a bit slow..."
Internet Explorer RC1 is a solid, feature-filled web browser. It seems to render every web page pretty much flawlessly, even those that use buggy web code. Impressive. However, RC1, like the beta that preceded it, is slow. That is, unlike other, leaner and meaner web browsers, web pages -- especially those that load when Internet Explorer first cranks up for a session -- take a while to display. So, if you want a solid browser but can live with some occasionally slow page renders, the you should give this browser's RC1 release a try. by: CharlieOrlando | 4 | 2009-01-26 | | | |
