"Partly better, partly worse!"

+ Better & simpler navigation of menus
+ Simplified design
+ Plug-ins crash less often

- Now includes Ads in all chat windows
- Sometimes hangs a while on exit
- Still is bootable from chat rooms
- Still doesn't stop chat bots
- Yahoo 360 makes it hard to see some people's profiles as they should be...

"Awful"

Much worse than 8.1 version.

In addition to previous reviewer's remarks, 9 beta also has occasions that on exit, it generates this weird error that 8.1 never did.

In addition, I don't use Yahoo to climb mountains, conquer the world, etc etc. They add so many worthless plugins that frequently crash which is BAD because I never even use them!

Worse still, is how it DEFAULTS to showing all the garbage it can, so on a "Clean" install, you have to manually uncheck show plugins, show search bar, and about 5 different things before it is finally clean enough to use.

Not to mention how it defaults to showing yahoo insider "Yech!"

If you include insider, AT LEAST have it disabled by DEFAULT along with live words, and all that other useless and pathetic garbage no-one ever uses.

Yahoo started to get bad right about version 6 or so when they decided throwing everything, INCLUDING the kitchen sink was a GOOD idea.

Not to mention, it still doesn't detect my creative webcam (Worked fine pre-SP2!).

You would think they would at least update it to work good under XP SP2 by now!

"Not ready for prime time!"

Yahoo! Messenger with Voice 9.0.0.907 Beta with the emphases on "Beta" is not ready for release! I installed under XP Pro and I did have the previous version (Yahoo! Messenger 8.1.0.421.) installed on my machine. The Beta version would not expand to fit the screen (Maximize or Restore); it would only display in the mini-screen mode. The Beta version defaulted to only a few of my general "Preferences" meaning I had to reset about 70% of my Preferences. It picked-up only half of the entries in "My Friends" list and I noticed other anomalies with previous lists and settings. I over-installed my old version Yahoo! Messenger 8.1.0.421 and I was back in business! I'll wait for YM's stable version 9.

"Awful"

Interface has been suffering from usability issues lately, such as things like plugins, & all kinds of mess added on top of and underneath the friends list to help make it SUCK!!!!

Good program, fairly easy to use...., after you hide a half dozen things and turn off stuff like live words (who uses that?)

Oh, & if your friend logs on or you use a different id, be prepared to change it all over again.

Fun, fun, fun...

What happened to CLEAN, SIMPLE, EASY to use?

Or have big companies forgot that?

"Horrid"

Although necessary for communicating with friends, yahoo has grown from clean & simple to:

PLUGINS!!! Besides this, if yahoo crashes, it brings up a plugins failed to load error. Plus the yahoo search & other useless "features" they added in it.

What happened to keeping the bloat minimal, while maximizing user experience?

Although there are ways around this, it may be best to just use an older lite version of yahoo, such as version 5.5 from oldversion.com

"Blundering"

I realize that Yahoo has been around for a long time but there is something really wrong with it. I have had Window's 98 and Window's Xp on my computers and I have a lot of trouble with my computer freezing up. Not just while IMing, but when I start my webcam. Everytime I try to start my webcam, POW!, I freeze up and have to restart my computer. If you get lucky enough to get an error message, you cannot send it cause you are froze up. Oh well, I have decidedto go elsewhere, and I am afraid I am telling all of my friends and family that I am changing.I will not say to whom I am changing to. Word of mouth goes a long way.

"Decent"

Ignore the silly complaints about bots. That's the fault of the users, not the program. The program works just fine.

"this stinks"

Yahoo messenger was rated pretty high on your site. Obviously you folks don't use it on a regular basis and put up with the BS that comes with it. I've been a Yahoo messenger user for alomg time and the amount of "bots" on this thing is unbelievable! One day I thought that I would test it by going into the 20's love room 12. By the time I got done "ignoring" all of the bots, out of 50 people listed there, 23 were bots. Now, if I were new to computers and was using FreewareFiles to download it, I would be pi**ed off at you for seemingly giving your approval for this crap. I'm not upset at you folks, just at Yahoo. And isn't it convient that there is no place on Yahoo to complain about this. Don't believe me? Download it and see for yourself. Also, after I use theit chat, I receive 3 or 4 emails from porn sites, Hmmmm, I wonder how that happened?! If you want some who has used this crap for years to review it for you, let me know. Sorry to take up your time, just thought you might want to know!
