"Works on Win98SE"
I uninstalled the Apple Quicktime, then installed the Quicktime Alternative version for Win98SE, then use Media Player Classic to play Windows Media, Quicktime + Real files. I use the Media Player Connectivity extension for Firefox to accomplish the same thing when playing media from websites. I am a non-techie, but Media Player Classic seems to play most files.

Quiktime requires 19.03MB, Quicktime Alternative requires 12.82MB. So the choice is yours, but will cost you more disk space on your HDD.

If properly configured, Quicktime is not a very intrusive program. I wonder the advantage of this alternative. Still, it is a fine product and works very well.
