"good-ish"
But there aren't any instructions so I'm going to have to spend a million years trying to work out what simple thing I've done wrong that made it not record the sound. by: quisquis | 3 | 2009-09-05 |

"Excellent 'ware for video editing"
If you are new into video editing... Avidemux makes it so easy to do lots of things... though you won't see any special fx, the main things you expect to edit and convert videos are here... You gotta have it. by: axl1 | 5 | 2009-08-13 |

"Not bad at all"
I've read the reviews and after using the program have mixed feelings. I am fairly new to video editing. It really isn't a bad program, especially compared to some of it's competitors in the freeware field.(which suck swamp water.) It does not come with a manual, which is not good, but, after experimenting I was able to cut and past video from a mpeg I had on my hdd. It is fairly straightforward, but it would be good if there were some on board help files and the interface was more clearly labeled. I figured it out, but I can see someone else getting extremely frustrated. By the way, I have the latest version of Avast! and haven't had a problem with a false positive yet. To the person with the "corrupted file" message. Try downloading the program again. The file may have been corrupted in transport. by: Dog_0f_war | 3 | 2009-08-09 |

"Original Download Link?"
Love this software. But the download link does not point to the download links from the original website. I recommend to go to http://www.avidemux.org/ yourself and download from there. by: Geiler Bock | 5 | 2009-07-01 |

"great but where's GTK"
This software was and still is great. But I don't like the QT interface and the latest installer didn't offer me GTK anymore. A pity but it still works very good offcourse, better than virtualdub that I used for years. (but I got tired of needing to re-encode VBR audio) by: me | 5 | 2009-06-27 |

"Very nice software!"
Avidemux is definitely among the best open source video editing software you can find. As for me, it's my favourite. And it's very easy to handle, both for Windows and Linux/Mac users alike. If you are still not satisfied and looking for alternatives, try here:

"Linux User Delight"
Beware - this GUI does not meet the normal usability standards of Mac or Windows users. Not recommended for neophytes to video file world.
This GUI will be a wonderful improvement IF...you already have a
working knowledge of DVD and video file structures and/or the GPL command-line scripts and executables behind this GUI interface.
Keep in mind serious long term Linux users are always amazed at anything that has a GUI and still is flexible enough to do most of of their work. Just read the ecstatic reviews carefully and note how many refer to script building and command lines operations as recently performed tasks.
Now note that the bad reviews come from Windows or Mac users with no exposure to Linux or program coding.
Mediocre reviews come from people with exposure to both Linux and Windows/Mac GUI world...mainly in apology form to GUI users and in encouragement to hardcore Linux users to keep on improving the GUI to some real marvels of GPL technology. by: Stupid Windows User | 2 | 2009-01-12 |

"Avidemux v2.4.3 for Win32 (SVN-r4502)"
ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS TAKE A 3 MINUTE CLIP OUT OF AN AVI FILE FROM A MOVIE....WASTED ALL DAY...ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING.....NO EXPLANATION FOR WHAT IT DOES...AND AT THE END ...DID NOTHING...CRAP by: SHARKEY | 1 | 2009-01-10 |

"dreadful"
there was no documentation, no explanation of whether to download zio or installer or both. Operation was cranky and again lacked any form of instructions. Save As option mysteriously had only 'all files' on offer. The test file it produced was jerky and sound didn't weork. Crap by: Steve | 1 | 2009-01-06 |

"Easy Peasy"
Easy peasy in terms of usage. Does what it says and no need to mess around with codecs. Everything comes built-in and if you want to cut or crop a movie, it offers a very fast and reliable way to do it. by: Freeboy | 5 | 2008-12-31 |

"Nice!"
okay, I just tried with Avidemux, and I must say I like it. Nice, clean, understandable user interface, that's how it should be. No need to mess around with script functions or commandline arguments from lengthy reference manuals when you can have a "list of forms" that just ask the necessary questions. Basically this works very well, the video gets encoded just the way I had imagined it, plus the ability to apply filters to my liking. by: Pixel | 5 | 2008-12-07 |
