"lacks finesse"
by: peter

Other Thoughts: When i tried this software i felt a lack of detail and finesse. For instance the help speaks of "spreadform one" in an application that's called "accel". Although it's just the outer coating it gives a feeling of carelesness. One thing that struck me when trying accel was that it was possible to erase an entire worksheet by just hitting F5, no questions asked, and no undo function available: 1 button, --> everything gone, or maybe i missed something, and this while the innocent action of closing the launchbar does ask for a confirmation. Maybe people that make a challenge to existing office suites should especially pay attention to detail. A strength of the suite, i guess, is it's responsiveness, no waiting: floop the apps are open, quite different from the suites i know. When seeing this suite i think it's kind of average but it had/has the potential to be so much better. The main functions are ok, but the detail..... Another example of a missed chance: Wordgraph can export to pdf.... cool, exiting, untill u uderstand it can't put bookmarks in it, or edit it's own pdf's, and then all usefullness is gone because with a pdf-printer any app can export to pdf. The abundance of low-functionality gadgets like a simple clock etc. etc. may be apealing to some looking for a simple responsive but complete office solution, but it gives me the feeling i want to replace most of the gadgets with something better. Take the launchbar, looks nice but not as good as other freeware alternatives, that don't have nero coverdesigner as a fixed item, maybe the author should have focused a bit more on core functionality, although there are also arguments for having that kind of stuff, it's a suite and suites are supposed to have a lot of stuff.

"It's ok for some..."
by: argybee

Other Thoughts: Nice neat suite. Good idea but... forget the Win7 compatibility - I got a fatal kernel eror after just a couple of mose clicks. Not a replacement for those who need full MS compatibility. Ok for those who want very simple and lightweight apps. Couldn't get much help. Couldn't edit table in DocApp. Looks simple and is. Seems pretty stable under XP. Can't be bothered testing under Vista because none of the individual apps are up to the stand-alones alternatives I choose to use. Recommend that potential users really study this mix and verify the need for at least most of it. Seems a little old-fashioned by concept. I still think Net based apps are the way of the future.

Other Thoughts: I would just like to respond to the previous review.

There are no rogue elements inside this office suite. It consists of only static applications, meaning that the applications can only be run if the user activates them.

"feature-full-but?"
by: IanL

Other Thoughts: Yes lots of features with this suite a only a 33mb download, but it introduced rogue elements that caused my system fo freeze and I needed to use System Restore after removing with Revo Uninstaller

"Surprisingly good freeware..."
by: CharlieOrlando

Other Thoughts: I have no idea where this office suite came from. It seems to appear from nowhere. Thankfully, though, it's a pretty good bundle of productivity programs. The productivity apps are on par with pretty much any other available freeware apps of that type. In addition, SSuite Office comes absolutely packed with all kinds of freeware productivity utilities. Pretty much everything that you would need, productivity-wise is in this suite. Very impressive. The downside? Well, another reviewer said that the interface is ugly. Well, I wouldn't go *quite* that far. However, it's definitely an "old school" GUI that this suite uses. That shortcoming aside, this suite is an amazing -- and very useful contribution to the world of freeware. Definitely worth the download.

"Simply the best."
by: PCRacer

Other Thoughts: There are two of each because SSuite Personal is bundled together with SSuite Office - The Fifth Element, giving two wordprocessors and two spreadsheet programs.

Other Thoughts: At least it does not run on java. It is only as stable as the system you are running on your pc.

"Fixes for uninstall."
by: PCRacer

Other Thoughts: There are some files that need to be relinked when you uninstall the suite. The following files need to be relinked to their original applications - *.eml,*.rtf, and *.ogg.

Simply open windows explorer and right click on the files with these extensions, and select "Open with..." or "Open with...|Choose Program".

*.eml goes with Outlook or Outlook Express.
*.rtf goes with MS Word or Wordpad.
*.ogg goes with any application that can play ogg vorbis files.

That is all you need to do. Enjoy!
