I was introduced to the Editpad line by a classmate who had downloaded Editpad Classic. I still love it. EdB, if you are looking for something that handles both text and RTF, try Jarte! It's also available here at FF.

"a very good notepad"
This is a great note pad replacement. It has tabbed browsing, which makes it nice when doing several txt or whatever like ini..inf..etc. It also has the opition to install a portable version if you want to install on a flashdrive. Another great notepad that I use is ATPad, which you can download here on freewarefiles.
