I absolutely love this software but this new version showed serious weaknesses on my vista machine. When instructed to replace the default task manager it fails on several occasions. This flaw may be used by viruses. I have gone back to v5.4.0. I give it a 5 because of the previous version. New versions should be better not worse.

AnVir Task Manager Free really surprised me. It's got an insane number of useful features. Apart from performing the usual process monitoring chores, AnVir also packs integrated startup control (a la MSconfig) and service manager, and log viewer.
It also monitors your system's workload, dropping icons in the system tray that indicate CPU usage (including a breakdown by application) and hard drive temperature, free space, and activity levels (again with per-application info).

A must have program. Does all it says at only 618 kb to download. Even shows disk loads and temperature.

Allows you to see what your PC is doing on start up, and alter it! You can start up some prgms. later or turn their start ups off all together, and this is very easy to use, and understand, especially with the tool tip window it has.
