"A couple of suggestions"

An extremely useful utility. There are things I would like to see improved. The problem is that I still have to use Windows Explorer. For example, fC does not recognize some Canon cameras, or the HP iPAQ PDA (with ActiveSync). Also, I would very much like to see 7z support (opening like a folder, similar to zip or rar files). Another reviewer mentioned another important issue - an error in copying many files should not abort, it should give you a choice.

"needs a brush-up"

I love the functions. But its not very handy, because the interface is outdated and ugly. Hopefully the interface will be refurbished or made skinnable.

This is the nicest Windows file manager I have used to date.

"Unable to copy some files"

If you selected several folders to copy, and one of the source files is opened by an application, that file cannot be copied. This is acceptable and understandable. However, what is not unacceptable is that when this obstacle is encountered, then the rest of the copying process is abandoned. Then I cannot tell which files were copied and which are not. The program should skip only those that are occupied and continue to copy until all the requested files are copied.

"Top"

This is a great alternative and free! I like it better than Total Commander.

"Dont use the new version"

I have used the 2007 version of FreeComamnder for over a year now and LOVED it. After installing the new 2008 version on all my computers I found that the new FreeCommander crashes all the time (many times per day/hour). I removed it and re-installed the old 2007 version which runs great. AVOID THE NEW 2008 VERSION.

"Very Customizable... and has a searching tool that burns the hair of your nose..."

It is a very good software... doesn't have a nice skinable interface, but opens very fast and has integration with the context menu of Windows Explorer, allowing you to open it conveniently with a mouse secondary click.
As the previous reviewer said, its searching feature is "blastastic". Nice, nice, nice, very, very nice!!!
That's it...

"Excellent search function"

Brilliant replacement for Windows Explorer in Vista, especially when searching for file by name, by date etc. Am I the only one who would dump Vista if they could ? !!

"superb! but need 'view hidden files' button"

This is my favorite apps to replace win explorer, but it's great if the developer add a simple one-click button to hide/view hidden files. It's not to practical if i have to hide/view hidden files from the 'setting' menu.

"Recommand with pleasure"

I use this commander for some years, it is now full featured for me. Directory-folder handling is unique, customizable, total keyboard support, zip/rar usage, batch rename, ftp and more...

"Two Years of use...."

I was a "FileAnt" user for the longest time, until I found Free Commander. This is a step up from that.

The best part is it works from my thumb drive.
