 | "deposits an Internet shortcut to author's website each time it starts - no good!" deposits an Internet shortcut to http://www.zhangduo.com/ on the desktop every time it is run. I don't like that behavour. Use "Unknown Devices" instead.

 | "great, even on 98" it woks for me, and it was hard to tell what were the identified unknowns, until i noticed [unknown] next to some devices. should be in red, i think. definiatly a 5, as it needs no install.

 | "How useful?" THis program would be better if it actually told you which devices where the unknowns it was identifying. As it is you must guess. It would be fine in situations where you know that you need a video card identified, but if you truely don't know what device is unknown, then it's not helpful at all.
