Maybe I did something wrong but I tried it and it re-formatted fine, checked the properties of the floppy, sure enough 1.63 mb. Problem was, I could actually only store about 540 kb on the floppy after that re-formatting.

On 2kpro, downloaded .exe application to My Documents (for storage), after FAT format write, floppy disk was 1.63mb free capacity. Very good.
