| | Review | Rating | Date | | | "ok but.." This program worked fairly good. It is a cut down version of a pay for version. The main gripe i had about this software was that it installed the "ask" search engine addon to both firefox and explorer when installing and i didnt see a selection to not install it. I have deleted it from my apps due to this.

by: Pat, | 5 | 2008-07-19 | | | | "v- 3.2.1" This release, they now have the 'just open the program, don't auto-run' desktop icon (in addition to the one-click launcher icon).
--- but note the Scan Location changes from previous set selection.
By default, in Exclusions, they now added C:WINNT (since I'm using Win2000's, that's it's registry path).
If you launch the one-click, stop/pause it, check the settings... is that what you previously set?
Better yet, don't use it at all. (delete)
by: mweizor | 3 | 2008-04-25 | | | | "Be safe, use CCleaner" I would recommend using CCleaner as a junk file cleaner. I have been using CCleaner (available on this site) for several years and never had a problem with deleting the wrong files. The major problems with disk cleaners like Wise Disk Cleaner is that on pre-XP OS's, you can't create a Restore Point before running the cleaner so you can't restore the OS to the previous state before running the disk cleaner. And DON'T EVER trust the backup files that disk cleaners create, they do not work and they will NOT restore your incorrectly deleted files!
by: farpointstation | 3 | 2008-04-25 | | | | "v- 3.2.0" As presently released... this is not good; when one selects the One-Click desktop icon, the program auto start; main problem is, some settings one already opted, changed... it launches, runs and poof it's gone.
I don't like one-clicks anyway but it should have just a program launch icon like its other program (though, I've found, in its program folder is such an icon and can be sent to desktop as a shortcut --- it launches without starting)
[why is that there and why make no mention of it?]--- odd
They added the "safe" and maybe "not-so-safe" to fix designaters but no "select just the safe" option button.
But until they fix the aboved mentioneds, I can't generally recommend this beyond a 2.
They did minimized the upgrade notice /request, though, and transparency issues.

Yeah, but those reminders to register at start-up, or the PLEASE upgrade to the professional version now, or...
Or what? Will my house burn down if I don't?
So annoying! I do believe this type of viral "freeware" could become as bad or worse than actual viruses and malware!!!

As to this free offering, it still auto begins scan from the launching of the desktop icon (despite if set otherwise), it does now remember file types set different from default, but one has to keep an eye on some of the option settings one set previously, in that some revert(delete mode, auto run, auto exit)
by: mweizor | 3 | 2008-03-01 | | | | "v- 3.01.(97) beta" It's good to see that Wise is finally adding the Beta term.
That being said; on 2kpro, has a newer look and feel-- and more stable.
Most glaring differences are: it lists ALL results on post-scan display screen-- not just the file types: it has a progress bar, at bottom, as well as the paths-- so at least one knows it's doing something (larger deletions are slow):
It no longer has the "check ONLY green or orange" designated result entries -- (bummer):
A few settings in Options are not in Wizard:
File types must be re-selected each program re-opening and sometimes the auto run mode won't stay in manual setting(resulting in the program running as soon as it's opened) as too the delete to recycling bin/or permanent settings sometimes change.(therefore the 1-click is not as one set).
I still like its Patch Source delete setting.
Why it lists index.dat, I know not--that requires system restart to delete (are they marked for deletion?).
Anyway, what it says as deleted -- at bottom of page-- is what is in recycling bin-- bravo, they're on the right path.
by: mweizor | 3 | 2008-01-08 | | | | "v- 2.91" What a box of chocolates this program and its releases are---it can find and display things fine but often freezes when it comes time to delete them leaving one staring at an endless hourglass icon. I un-installed it, re-installed it , and it ran fine all the way through. I ran it again, it displayed but wouldn't delete. One time, upon delete, its results display froze yet when I checked my Recycle bin a SP uninstaller was in there (as I wanted). So it does work but when and what part?. I did like its "clear windows update source" and eventually got them deleted but it's just too variable-- this release , anyway.

Aug 17 2007; Wise Disk Cleaner 2.7 build 83 release; "The operating system automatically judgment.
Fix a bug." Two LoL's: one for Wise's "helpful" grammar and secondly, that this program does nothing on 2k--> at least configure the settings and options from defaults. On 2kpro, it's comparatively fine for its type. Just delete to recycling bin and peruse.

by: commercob | 1 | 2007-07-12 | | | | "Great software" When I run Wise Disk Cleaner frist, it clean up more than 1G for my hard disk, and no problem yet.
by: KJRose | 5 | 2007-06-25 | | | | "Great software" I used both Wise Registry and Wise Disk for the last few months, them worked great, together they improved my pc speed tenfold, and over two months, no troubles. Both these programs are "great program", and very simple.
by: mravek | 5 | 2007-05-30 | | | | "v-2.3(1)" It's good..however, do review total delete results in recycle bin, since the scan results display is only for FileTypes and not any of the additional options selected in Options.. and , although like too many other programs , it says it deleted/removed some files, it actually didn't/can't because they are locked or otherwise protected-- I have no problem with this per se other than it's factually misrepresenting.. also upon rescanning (these locked files ) the program freezes but since it accomplished it primary function , I rate it a 3 ...... May 29 2007 Wise Disk Cleaner 2.3 release : Fixed progress indicates incorrect when deleting.
