CsDiff compared two MsWord docs and displayed the changes which can then be edited further. (MsWord has a similar tool built-in called "Compare and Merge", if you know where to find it!) CsDiff will also compare and find differences between two file lists. Will run from a flash drive

"Great for folder compares"
Have not used it to compare files, but as freeware this does a great job comparing 2 folders (and associated subfolders)!
