Software Product Description

Whether you are a network administrator or just a curious person who would like to find some information about computers in different parts of the world that are connected to the Internet, Angry IP Scanner will serve you well. You can use the open source network scanner on different operating systems, including Windows, Linux and MAC OS. The program is easy to use because it is designed with ordinary computer users in mind. At the same time, it is ideal for advanced users.

The appearance of the program's friendly graphic user interface will depend on the operating system, but it retains its main features across the systems. It has slots where you specify the range of IPs you would like to scan before clicking the 'Start' button.

Angry IP Scanner uses different methods to detect live hosts. It considers hosts that do not respond to pings as dead by default, but you can change this option in the Scanning tab under Preferences. The Preferences dialog also allows you to choose your desired pinging method.

The pinging methods you can choose include ICMP Echo pinging, ICMP.DLL pinging, UDP packet pinging and TCP port probe. Some methods require administrator privileges while others work on particular operating systems.

The program scans networks using multiple threads, with each host being scanned in a separate thread. You can adjust the maximum number of threads that run in parallel. It is recommended that you do not run too many threads so as not to drain OS resources and affect the performance of your computer.

Even though Angry IP Scanner is a simple network scanner, it is used in various scenarios, thanks to its powerful features. You can use it for your own personal requirements, and it is also used in small enterprises, government agencies and even banks.

"Java Really?"

Pros: None

Cons: Java: This nightmare of a programming platform should completely go away. This can not be a portable and Java has some new security risk every week. Plus it is SLOW so very slow. I wish I could give 0 Stars.

Other Thoughts: Check out their Network and IP scanning software is much much much better and is very active, unlike this software. Programmers very active in development.
