Cons: The tiny font in the ribbon GUI is nearly impossible to make out, and there is no configuration option to adjust this. The settings files are in plain text and can be edited with a text editor, even though their file names have no extensions. However, although some customization is possible in them, it's difficult to do without knowing the appropriate commands to insert. Also, there's no help file. The help button simply sends you to the author's website, where you have to dig around in the issues tracker to find the info you're looking for.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't start BowPad, because the editor of FreewareFiles provided the x64 version for download, whereas I'm running an x86 machine. If you run into that problem, go to the files section on the download site at SourceForge, where you can find the non-x64 version.
