Software Product Description

Disk Editor for Windows is a handy utility for displaying and editing raw data on hard discs and other drives. It is compatible with both fixed and removable drives, including floppy disc drives. The tool is ideal for recovering deleted and other lost files.

You download the 7-ZIP archive and extract the contents to a folder. Please note that all the three files extracted must be saved in the same folder for the application to function properly.

When you install the executable file and launch the program, it opens a page that lists all the discs and drives connected to your computer. The upper part of the window lists discs while the lower part displays drives. If you have a hard disc that is divided into several partitions, for instance, it will list the single hard disc on the upper part and its various partitions or drives on the lower part.

The disc part displays such details as disk number, media type, bus type, bytes or sectors and size in bytes. The drive section displays drive ID, volume name, serial number, system, type, physical disk, sectors or clusters and size in bytes among others.

Depending on what you want to do, you may choose either "read only" or "edit" mode. You can do this when displaying file data, physical disc data and logical drive data. The application can display data in either text or numeric formats.

By default, data is displayed in "read only" mode. The background color changes when you select the "edit" mode. The color also changes to red whenever you edit data.

Since Disk Editor for Windows provides tools for editing raw data on disc drives, you need some knowledge of computer software and hardware.
