There are many audio converters in the market with different capabilities. If you want a simple and quick way of converting Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) to Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC), then FLAC to ALAC should be your software of choice. The free audio converter is basically designed to convert *.flac files to *.m4a format.

Using FLAC to ALAC

FLAC to ALAC installed within seconds after letting us choose whether we wanted to change its installation directory and name in addition to creating a desktop shortcut. We launched it immediately after installation and it opened an almost bare graphical user interface. The menu bar contained only "File" and "Help" menus while the remaining part of the window was divided into three columns respectively named FLAC Files, File Size and ALAC Files.

We added the FLAC files that we wanted to convert via the "File" menu or using the global hot-key "Ctrl+O." The dialog window that opened allowed us to select multiple files, which was convenient when we wanted to use the application's batch conversion capability. We were only able to view and select FLAC files, which eliminated the risk of selecting inappropriate file types. The selected files appeared in the first column.

Once we had selected all the files that we wanted to convert, we initiated the conversion step via the "File" menu or using the "Ctrl+E" keyboard shortcut. A dialog window appeared where we selected the output folder and the conversion process started immediately after the selection.

Whenever the application completed converting a file, it listed it in the right column relative to its source file. We could cancel the conversion process at any time by clicking on "Stop" in the "File" menu. When we wanted to remove the added files, we simply pressed the "Del" key.

The "Help" menu had only two options: displaying brief information about the application and opening the homepage.

Conclusion

FLAC to ALAC provides a simple interface for converting *.flac files to *.m4a ones. There is no configuration to deal with.
