Icon Creator features a simple graphical user interface with tabs on a left pane for accessing its various features and a menu bar on top that allows you to perform different functions. It lists images, showing their respective heights, widths, color depths and extensions.

When you select an image, its preview appears, and the application gives you the opportunity to change its color depth and size. You can choose 1-bit, 4-bit, 8-bit, 24-bit and 32-bit color depths. You may also choose any of the five provided sizes or specify your preferred width and height and then use the image to create your icon.

Alternatively, you may import and edit existing icon files. The software lets you import the icons either directly or extract them from such resources as EXE and DLL files. The resource icon extractor lets you complete the process with a single click of the mouse once you have browsed for and selected the source file.

Apart from importing and editing icons, you can use the software to convert images from one format to another. You can convert individual images or several ones simultaneously.

The application has an integrated language manager that lets you choose your preferred language for the user interface.
