Software Product Description

NT Objects is a special utility that sheds more light on parts of the Windows operating system that are difficult to explore with the default Win32-APIs and is intended to replace WinObj.

The main application window is divided into two panes. The tree view on the left displays a list of object directories in tree format. The list view is on the right pane, which is where you will find all objects, including symbolic links and directories. The window also features menu and caption bars on the upper and lower parts respectively.

NT Objects supports keyboard shortcuts for navigating and performing various tasks. For example, F5, F10 and F12 keys respectively refresh object list, display the Properties dialog for selected item and bring up the About window.

The Properties dialog displays details about an object in the property sheets, including how to access and secure it.

The "Object Details" property sheet has three possible options. When full details are available, the properties in the upper two thirds of the window are usually filled in. The details on the lower part are object-specific and only appear depending on the selected type.

The details will appear differently when object-specific properties cannot be queried and only general details are available. The lower part of the window will display an error message that retrieving event-specific basic information failed. The third option is only when the type and name are available. In this case, the lower third of the window will not display any information. This usually happens when you run the program without administrator privileges.

You may also view security properties when they are available. The details may be unavailable for various reasons, including running the application in un-elevated mode.

You can export a representation of the object manager namespace in either XML or TXT format.

System Requirements

NT Objects is compatible with Windows 2000 and later operating systems.
