Software Product Description

If you want to manage permissions for the NTFS file system, NTFS Permissions Tools will help you achieve this and more. The handy tool will help you back up, restore and modify the security settings of both folders and files.

The free permissions tool features several tabs you can use to add folders or files, allow or deny access, change owner, specify read-only options and configure advanced settings. The program provides more options than the standard Windows permission and security tool. For example, the Read Only function provides seven different ways you can apply the setting while the default program only allows you to either activate or deactivate the function.

When you add files or folders, the details you will see displayed include their types, creation dates, file system, access rights in respect to current user and owners. The access rights of current user may be displayed as allowed, read only or denied with different color codes for ease of identification.

There are many types of permissions you may specify, including the ability to traverse folder or execute file, read data, read attributes, write data or create files, append data or create folders, write attributes, delete sub-folders and files. You may include inheritable permissions from an object's parent and replace all child object permissions with the inheritable ones. The program even allows you to change the current owner.

Restoring security settings is as easy as selecting a backup file and clicking the 'Restore' button.

NTFS Permissions Tools is especially ideal for people who want to change many permission options at the same time or those who change permissions regularly. The lightweight application is less than a megabyte in size.
