With the increasing speeds of cellular internet, many people choose this option due to its convenience. For example, they do not have to be tied to one location. SoftPerfect Mobile Broadband Toolkit will help you take control of your mobile network connection and have a better experience. The free software is compatible with both built-in and USB-connected modems.

SoftPerfect Mobile Broadband Toolkit

The installer gave us the option to create a desktop shortcut and let the software start automatically on startup. The program features will be grayed out when launched unless you have a built-in or USB-connected 3G/4G connected modem. The program window featured tabs for accessing different sections at the same place.

The "Device Info" tab gave us details about our modem, including cellular class, voice class, data class, band class, SMS ability, control, model, IMEI and firmware info. The modem's name was displayed in a bar above the tabs. The Status section on the lower part of the window indicated whether our device was connected or not.

The "Profiles" tab displayed a list of the access profiles that we had configured, including their respective parameters.

The software monitored our data usage and gave us daily and monthly statistics, which we accessed via the "Usage" tab. It gave us download, upload and total data usage in real time. The details proved handy when we wanted to control our data usage and avoid overuse charges.

The "Settings" window allowed us to configure whether and how we wanted the freeware to check if our computer was online. We entered the popular websites that we wanted it to attempt accessing at specified intervals to determine connectivity. We configured the interval at which we wanted it to check the connection in seconds and the number of failures that triggered a reconnection. We could also set the program to reboot the computer after a set number of failures. That option required us to set our computer to log in automatically and the software to start with Windows.

Apart from monitoring our mobile network connection, the program also enabled us to send and receive text messages directly on its interface. It had two buttons for accessing received and sent messages and was compatible with Unicode, long and short text messages depending on the capability of the connected modem.

We tried SoftPerfect Mobile Broadband Toolkit with different types of modems and it did not seem to connect some of them.

SoftPerfect Mobile Broadband Toolkit is a handy application for controlling mobile network connections and automatically reconnecting in case of a drop-out. You can also use it to send and receive text messages. However, the software is only compatible with built-in or USB-connected 3G/4G modems.
