Have you ever tried to delete a file only to receive an error message? Perhaps you received a message that the file was being used by another person or open and could not be deleted. Thankfully, you can easily use ThisIsMyFile to unlock or delete locked files. The lightweight software includes several features that will help you to effectively remove protected files.

Using ThiIsMyFile

We simply extracted the application files into a folder on our desktop. Double-clicking the executable file opened a window where we needed to accept the end user license agreement and desired language. The program supported German and English.

The main program window opened immediately after we clicked the "OK" button. We could either browse for and select the desired files or simply drag and drop them onto the user interface. The program immediately displayed the name and path of the dropped file.

We selected what we wanted to do with the file below the file path box. The options included getting only information, unlocking, deleting and rebooting and deleting. The last option had two choices: we could reboot and delete or reboot and delete protected files without any query, which did not unlock the files.

The "Info" button let us know whether the selected file was locked or not. If it was locked, it displayed the program that took over the file. On the lower part of the user interface were two check boxes for creating a copy of the selected file and rebooting immediately. The other buttons only responded when we were dealing with locked files.

The reboot and delete options were intended to delete locked files that proved stubborn. The system shut down and the files were deleted upon rebooting. The choice of rebooting and deleting without query handled even unprotected files.

ThisIsMyFile also gave us some extras such as the ability to add to or remove from "Send-to" Explorer menu and run the application in admin mode. A button on the upper right part of the interface enabled us to always keep the application window on top when we wanted.

If you want to delete protected files that prove difficult to remove from your computer, then ThisIsMyFile will help you out. The simple application does not need installation and you can simply drag and drop files onto its user interface. Depending on the files that you want to remove, you may need to run the software in elevated mode.
