WD Officepad may not be one of the normal text editing applications that you may have likely come across while looking for one. This is because of its unique design principles and build style. From the ground up, its designed for users who want simplicity, ease-of-use and beauty right out of the box. Its just a text editor, but everything a user would really need on the spot.

Some of its core features:

  • Notes management for managing all your notes
  • Easy portability on-the-go
  • Ability to view all your recent files
  • Add files to your favorites list
  • Note encryption
  • Importing existing notes from your PC
  • Supports themes and themes creation
  • Inbuilt Command Scriptor for creating scripts and running them from within the application, including managing the datastore via SQL
  • Internal clipboard manager for managing all your copied and cut texts plus even retrieving them
  • Supports Text-To-Speech
  • Typing sounds utility for playing sounds as one types
  • Simplistic snippets creation, editing and management
  • Auto-completion feature for words (e.g. dictionary words, previously-typed words, all user-added snippets plus extension supported snippets)
  • Ability to dock different windows on the screen
  • Pinning the application to the System tray
  • An inbuilt screen locker for your own privacy, plus other small nitty-gritty features inside...

Requires: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and above.

"It's amazing! (plus a comment to @compmend)"

Pros: Hi @compmend, seems you've not really gotten through and used to the UI of this simple application. First, to save a note, when you click on the save icon, a list of options pops-up from where you can choose how to save it, and it works perfectly. Also, you can press on "CTRL+S" to do the same. Second, i don't really understand or know how you proceeded with the Upgrading process, but mine worked perfectly well. You only need to press on the "upgrade" button after the Upgrader's interface has been shown, then select the previous folder where WD Officepad was at or in-short, the folder that you extracted from the zip file to run the app, e.g "C:My DocumentsWD Officepad 1" and you're ready to go! Otherwise, just follow-up on the official blog site: Hope this helps any other existing users out there... Otherwise, i love this app. I use it for all my note-taking adventures and so far it's amazingly simple, intuitive, clean, beautiful and really functional. I love it!

Cons: Hmm, let's just say it fits it's sole purpose...and that's being a personal note editing tool.

Other Thoughts: The more i use it, the more i love it. Can't wait for future versions to come. There's more i want from this nice app and i know it's gonna grow real BIG.
