Software Product Description

Windows 10 allows you to customize the colors of the start menu and taskbar. However, it only provides a few colors to choose from, and you will always end up with a dark hue irrespective of the color you choose. If you are a technical geek, you may delve deep into the new operating system and change the color calculation algorithm. Fortunately, you do not have to despair if you are an ordinary PC user, as Windows 10 Color Control will come to your rescue.

This is a portable application that you run directly from the location where you save it. It does not make any changes to your Windows registry.

It features a minimalist user interface that gives you two places for choosing DWM and Accent colors for the window borders and start menu/taskbar respectively. There is also a check box for disabling the new auto-color algorithm.

The function of this check box may confuse some users. If you want to apply the bright settings that prompted you to use the application in the first place, you need to keep the box unchecked. It is checked by default, but this lets you use the original Windows 10's color calculation algorithm.

You can choose any color whether the box is checked or not: the difference is that when the box is checked, the colors appear darker.

You will appreciate the difference when you understand that the original Windows 10 configuration only gives you 48 color shades while this application lets you access the whole range of 65,536 shades.
