How To Take A Screenshot On Android Devices

There are certain times when you need to capture what’s on your mobile screen for a variety of reasons. Screenshots can be taken during these moments that absolutely serve the purpose of your current need. As a result, taking a screenshot has become a much-needed functionality in smartphones and tablets. There are a few ways you can take a screenshot on your Android device. It could be either by using built-in methods or installing some third party application from Google’s Play Store.

  • Power + Volume Down Button

Apple’s iOS already had this feature but in android, it was introduced with its 4.0 version (Ice Cream Sandwich). Ice Cream Sandwich and later versions of Android made the task very easy. All you have to do is press the power button and volume down button simultaneously. You will get notified by an audible click and a flash on the screen that the job is done.

  • Power + Home Button

A few Android based phones have a slightly different method for capturing the contents on your screen. You have to hit the Power and Home button simultaneously.

  • Built-in Utilities

Some Android phones come with built-in screenshot feature. You need to check the manual to find out if your phone has the same feature. A screen shot can be taken just by clicking on the particular option in the toolbar.

  • Third Party Applications

Earlier Android versions could not provide the function to capture the screen by any shortcuts and users needed third party apps. There are a lot of good screen shot applications you can find on Google’s Play Store. The app needs to be downloaded and installed on your phone or tablet and it will allow you to take screenshots. This method does not require rooting your Android device.

  • Motion and Gestures Feature

A few phones, specifically Samsung Galaxy models are there that allow you to take a screen shot with a palm swipe. You need to go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Motion and Gesture’. Here, you can turn on the functionality.
