Video Edit Master 2.0

2016-05-03

Pros:

Simple, well laid out, no theme, no fuss. Drag'n'drop any kind of video on it. Basic controls, but precise to use. Takes anything you throw at it.

Cons:

AVI in, AVI out. But it works. No plugins, filters, extensions or converters.

Other Thoughts:

Useful, but hardly 'Video Edit Master'. If you've ever seen a celluloid film splicer, it's like that - and Windows didn't have one till now.
Rename it 'Splice'.

In more detail:-

Didn't like the 666 byte setup file so just ran the MSI. No nasties in the clip-arty setup script.
No choice on the start menu location, right at the bottom. Minus point.
Interface vanilla Windows. Themed by me and Bill Gates. Mega plus points.
Ten menu commands, including 'Help'. No more. Gonna try drag'n'drop.

[Drops random 312x 240 .mp4 file on top-left pane, hang on it's an .flv]

Sees 'Add Entire File' button. It works so far. Very nice.File in both panes, still can't get the transport buttons to ungrey.
Ah! Edit File! Oooh! That's um, great! Scrobble smoothly, no sound though. Or Edit Part (big arrow).
No right-click, no dragging a marquee. No mouse hints.
Click to start/stop is good.
Actually, I've quickly got a workflow going. Drag, drop, edit file, add part, sort parts as resired, make movie! Very neat.
Now to add a big 43Mb video, format stright off my Lumix.

No problem at all, clip what you want and add to the project. Stable as they come.
Can I preview now please? I don't like that unlabelled button by the audio fader. Record, is it? No - Mute.
Ah, there's a jpeg screenshot, good.
Add parts as you go, non-destructively, nice. And to reset, you go bck to 'Edit File', I see.
No preview whatever? Do I have to 'Make Movie? OK.
No 'Reset' on the edit selectors. Minus point.
Playback speed, plus point.
No keyboard functions beyond Explorer. Did I mention it was stable? This thing is so stable, you could keep horses in it.
No FX at all. No plugins, scripts or extensions.
"Make AVI or MPEGII". MPEGII. Error with the audio format, writes a log but DOESN'T crash. I reckon this keeps Explorer from crashing.
It's so solid, it's plutonium-enriched.
Does it again and again, basically not informing me that I can't jam two different video files together and expect it to work. So not a mashup thing then.
No options whatever, it's for editing one identical video format at a time - no inter-conversion at all, but why would it? AVI in, AVI out seems to work perfectly. Secondhand MOV to MOV just about worked, You try it. It's not intuitive, but it's surprisingly effective at what it does.

It does a common video job that you don't want to drag out the graphic-intensive, unstable applications for, or hope VirtualDub has decided to stop sulking.
And it does this remarkably simply and without any fuss.

Video Edit Master 2.0

2013-01-11

Pros:

Edits ok if you have old, older and the oldest of video files.

Cons:

Only useful for the video files of yesteryear. As for the year 2013, this program is just about totally useless. This is called Master with only 3 old formats supported? Get real.

Other Thoughts:

How in the heck did this get to be an editors pick? If this editor's pick is any indication of their criteria, ALL their pick must be suspect and be taken with a grain of salt.

Other Thoughts:

I'm a novice video dude, but this program really works. It will do until I stumble upon something better. Works with mpeg files...

"Makes Rearranging Clips Easy"

by: M.L.

Other Thoughts:

Very intuitive interface that makes cutting a breeze. Accepts only AVI and MPEG1 and MPEG2. Somewhat fussy with input file compliance. Outputs only MPEG1 and MPEG2. Best asset is the easy way it allows you to rearrange your footage clips.

@netbestman You got married? Why did not you invite me to your party? ;-)

Other Thoughts:

I used video edit master to remove unwanted parts of my wedding tape which was in divx and it was very good! I'm not a video pro but it was really easy for me. It worked very fast on my "ordinary" computer with windows XP

Other Thoughts:

Should be named wmv/asf editor because that is all that is supported. It's like ASFbinappGUI with a player/preview screen build in. But this player is very slow and it's difficult to set start and end points. Claims to work on win98 but doesn't. Not very surprising since it's build on Memcoder that doesn't run on win98 as well.
