CryptoExpert system mounts a volume file to create a "virtual drive" that appears to applications and users like any other physical drive. Any data that the user attempts to write to this drive is intercepted, encrypted, and written to the volume file. Attempts to read from this volume are also intercepted, and the relevant data is read from the volume file, decrypted, and presented to the application.

"not portable"

CryptoExpert2009Lite documentation does not tell you that it is installed as a Windows Service. What this means is that it is not portable. It eats up system memory, even when you are running it. There are competitor software, e.g. SafeHouseExplorer that is portable and can do the same job.
