Drive Power State 1.0 New
FREEWAREFILES EDITOR'S REVIEW
While it is true that Windows operating system powers down hard drives once they have been idle for a while, you may need to keep track of the power consumption of your various hard disks. An intuitive hard drive monitor that will help you achieve this easily is known as drivePowerState. The small application will also give you some useful details about your hard drives in addition to their power consumptions.
Features and Functions
This is a very lightweight and portable application that you only need to extract and run. The program will create a settings file and all the required ancillary files in its folder.
When you launch the application, it automatically detects and lists all connected drives. It displays different details about the drives in columns on the simple graphical user interface, including disc and serial number, volumes, mount points, status, idle times, powered times, duty cycles and cycles.
You can right-click on an item in the list and copy it to the Clipboard or select all items in the list.
The hard drive monitor automatically refreshes the list of drives after every minute although there is also a button that you can use to reset or refresh the discs on demand. The "Settings" button on the lower left part of the window allows you to activate the creation of log files among others.
You need to keep the program running at all times when you want it to monitor your hard drives, but this should not worry you because it consumes minimal system resources. You can also minimize it to the System Tray to keep it out of the way as you use your computer.
drivePowerState is a simple hard drive monitor that provides useful information about the drives, including power consumption. You can run the portable application from any location, but it is recommended that you always run it with administrator privileges.
