Publisher's Description

Proxy Switcher is a small tray icon type utility that allows you to select whether Windows and Mozilla Firefox should use a proxy server for Internet access in a couple of clicks.

No more digging around in the Internet Options screen for Windows or the Advanced tab in Firefox. Simply right click on the tray icon and choose ´Home´ for a direct connection to the Internet or ´Office´ to use the proxy, there is even an ´Auto´ option which will change the setting for you when you connect to your work/home or work VPN network.

Proxy Switcher even informs your Windows environment of the changes so you don´t need to restart applications such as Internet Explorer or MSN Messenger when the proxy settings change.

FreewareFiles tested OnyxBox Proxy Switcher 1.7 on 2011-01-04 using leading antivirus scanners and found it 100% Clean. It does not contain any form of malware, spyware, viruses, trojans, etc. We will re-test each updated version and remove the award as well as the program if found infected.

"Works great"

Pros:  Easy. Executed well. Really, all it does is give you a way to turn off your proxy settings from the system tray. It also has an "auto" feature that detects whether you need a proxy that works fine for me.

Cons:  A couple instructions would be nice. I was looking for a place to input my workplace proxy settings and there isn't one. It just uses the system settings and provides an easy way to turn them off when you're at home.

Other Thoughts:  Why is this not a standard feature in Windows?
