Recuva (pronounced "recover") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!

Duplicate files are now numbered sequentially.
Added sort arrows to list view.

I don't need or use this type of program that much but of the several I've tried , this seems the least confusing and most helpful with so many ways to look at an entry, view mode and with Info tab. It has a Deleter that overwrites the file content... but why not have a Wiper --- taking out the file name and path, as well. This would also make subsequent searches easier (less clutter) and add privacy. I know it's primed as a recoverer but I had to run the deleter several times -- I selected all files for delete --- it would say a file content was overwritten yet upon rescan many (excluding the files in 'resident' or 'zero size file') were indicated as 'Excellent', 'no overwrite detected'.
