I tried SMPlayer, VLC Player, etc. -- but nothing can compete with KMPlayer. It handles any file format and delivers excellent options and playback features. Codecs are built-in, so you don't need external codec packages, although KMPlayer let's you still choose. The configuration wizard is an awesome help! The only thing I miss is a better access to the options. I wish for the most used features there was additionally some dropdown menu at the top. Because it's a bit tedious to access those via right-click submenus. Also beta version has a bug in preferences listing. The "filters" tree cannot be collapsed. But I'm sure it'll be fixed.
