"Only get better?" by: Krampo ClamWin Free Antivirus 0.97.1
Pros: Exceedingly slooooooooooow! Cons: This software has been at the .9x (beta) stage for years (literally). I don't believe it will reach the 1.0 release in our life time. Other Thoughts: NoneWas this review helpful? 20 out of 44 users found this review helpful.

"so slow" by: allan clark ClamWin Free Antivirus 0.96.4
Pros: freeware and thats good. Works even on 98.
Can be portable and thats very good for
those with more than one computer.
ONE DOWNLOAD.Of your virus def Cons: Very slow. No quick scan..
how is the average person going to tell,
whats the best place to scan ? So they
only have the choice of a full scan and
that takes all day..Does not flog your
computer to death , like some =alvira etc. Other Thoughts: I still keep it on my pc, like a life raft.
Plus I take my hat of to the people,
behind it. GOOD WORK ! It can only get
better..windows is the problem ,total junk.
7 million bugs. what rubbish !Was this review helpful? 37 out of 78 users found this review helpful.

"It's getting better" by: Freeboy
Other Thoughts: This little gem is getting better and better. Has been not convincing in the past, but now is usable and satisfying in performance and detection. And the biggest plus is that it's open source. Was this review helpful? 50 out of 113 users found this review helpful.

"Good stuff." by: Stephen
Other Thoughts: My buddy recommended this to me a few months ago and I've had it installed ever since. It downloads updates automatically and they are so insignificant (as far as size and bandwidth usage) that it's pretty hard to notice them.
I never use ClamWin to scan my whole system; my only usage comes from the right-click context menu--when I download a file from an unreliable source I always right-click it and scan it with ClamWin and it takes about 5 seconds to scan it.
I highly recommend this program for scanning individual files, but other users have reported long system scan times...Was this review helpful? 54 out of 109 users found this review helpful.

"Decent" by: Uncle Kracker
Other Thoughts: I rate this a 3 for now.
The interface is ok, but scanning takes forever. It is OK to increase the amount of mem used, or have an adjustable slider so the user can select how much mem to use in order to speed up scan times.
In addition, it shows threats found, but is confusing about how to remove them, as opposed to other competing programs such as AVG?
Seems to have pretty good definition sets & updates. Just needs to be easier to remove the threats found, & REALLY needs to be FASTER.
Until then, I rate this a 3.Was this review helpful? 47 out of 98 users found this review helpful.

"Very good" by: deebee
Other Thoughts: Good for a secondary scanner for scanning files. Signature database seems to be updated frequently. Full scan took a long time, but can't really complain as it's free. Was this review helpful? 64 out of 103 users found this review helpful.

"v- 0.93" by: mweizor
Other Thoughts: It's good
Good scan time, though, unless one changes the file types list, it has only one scan type, I'd consider 'deep'.
Its resource usage is good for this category of program.
Its 'scanner priority' is set to low (default) but can be set to 'normal' at Configure> Advanced tab.
If you don't want it to be added to autostartup --- therefore, no tray icon , uncheck the auto updates (basically, all boxed under Preferences> Internet Updates tab) and update manually.
So, if you're looking for a decent, secondary, malware database/scanner, this is good.
I'd give it a nod over A-Squared AV mainly because it uses far less RAM draw and doesn't embed a Services process --- and let's face it , if one's intent is a secondary usage, I'd want the barest impact I could find with good speed, database and updates.
(bytheway, I say 'as a secondary' to an anti-malware program with real-time scan ability/feature).
One thing, though, on 2kpro, I 'asked for'(okayed) the Explorer right-click context menu feature, yet I don't see it?Was this review helpful? 43 out of 105 users found this review helpful.

"I like it" by: Jeus
Other Thoughts: Slow but powerful. No real-time scan but a very large database and good rate of development. I think in the next years it will be on top of commercial products. Was this review helpful? 50 out of 108 users found this review helpful.

"Good 'n SLOW" by: Youn_Tze
Other Thoughts: Actually I used ClamAV to build my own antivirus, but I respected to the maker of ClamWin too, I copy some code for graphical interfaces for my antivirus and made some enhancements of scanning performance (it's faster than ClamWin),...
Oh ya, I think it will be better if you provide real time protection options and make it faster scanning than now...
that's it, thanksWas this review helpful? 53 out of 95 users found this review helpful.

"OK for a freebie" by: katmik
Other Thoughts: This product touts high detection rates but can't verify yet. Nice to
have for back-up and will scan in
safe mode. Best of all it's FREE!
The down side is a VERY S L O W
SCAN!! It takes 6 Hrs on my computer!
Remember it is on demand only-there
is no real time shield.
Forgot to mention that you can integrate it with SpywareTerminatorWas this review helpful? 51 out of 109 users found this review helpful.

"good" by: 1gooddude
Other Thoughts: 1baddude, ClamWin offers a fairly good detection, only lacking of online scanner that made many people go away. You are annoyingly stupid for not turning off AVG automatic daily scan. Its your stupidity that caused the annoyance. Don't blame the program.

"ok" by: 1baddude
Other Thoughts: This is ok but not a complete program and bloatware for what it really does. AVG av runs automatic daily scans and is most annoying. Avast is the best complete av program you can get for free. Was this review helpful? 49 out of 105 users found this review helpful.
