"Dear Anna" by: xzilus foobar2000 v1.1.6 Beta 5
Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing, or in Anna's case. It doesn't play videos. Other Thoughts: Well Anna, because some people don't want the big downloads that multiplayers bring. Plus the slowing down of your system.I have the Foobar player for audio and the WMP Home Cinema for vids. Both of them total under 20MB.Was this review helpful? 54 out of 103 users found this review helpful.

"Works!" by: Anna foobar2000 v1.1.6 Beta 4
Pros: Plays audio Cons: Cannot play videos Other Thoughts: Although I know this is targeted at audio files, the question I have is why?
And thus the 4 rating I gave it...
KM Player can play nearly any audio or video file, & then there is GOM, LAN, MPlayer, & others....
Not saying this is a bad player, but why? Why have 2, or 3, or a dozen player just to play audio when true multi-format players can play nearly anything? Was this review helpful? 50 out of 111 users found this review helpful.

"Best of Breed" by: Good n Bad
Other Thoughts: The Good: Light weight and easy to use interface for basic functions. Great alternative to the now bloated winamp. It has a ton of 3rd-party support. Nice win 7 support.
The Bad: Unnecessarily complicated to customize. Just about anything *can* be done with it, but little is actually built-in. For example, ratings: You can set it up, but it isn't easy. DSP support is adequate, but not great.
The Verdict: When all is said and done, best alternative available. That's more of an indictment of the alternatives than an endorsement of Foo, but true nonetheless. Was this review helpful? 87 out of 188 users found this review helpful.

"humble looks, but fast & powerful" by: Claire de la Lune
Other Thoughts: After installation it looks humble. But with a little effort, it can look anything you want. But even if you're too lazy to invest all the time to set it up to your needs, it's still strongly recommended. Because foobar is the most powerful open source audio player. It has such a small system foot print, yet is so fast. The library management is awesome, as it detects and adopts to any externel changes of the music library within seconds. If you need a bit more look & feel, install UI columns component for foobar and then make changes you need. But if you're still lazy, there are ready-made configuration files for UI columns offered by users in the foobar forum. Try it! Even if it looks too humble and confusing at first. This player is suberb! It also has the best native support for gapless playback. Other players like Winamp or iTunes need a plugin for that or do pseudo-gapless playback by using proprietary techniques that only work with those players themselves (as for iTunes which actually modifies the tags of the files in order to do that...).Was this review helpful? 85 out of 155 users found this review helpful.

"improved" by: Kakerlake
Other Thoughts: The setup has been heavily improved, so that after installation a settings wizard appears and helps you to customize foobar. No tedious work to make anymore before you can use it. Good job, although still quite nerd-like when going to the preferences of foobar. Was this review helpful? 88 out of 173 users found this review helpful.

"not so good" by: damien
Other Thoughts: I think it does too many things that are just useless and not intuitif. Do I need to read a 3000 page manual just listen to music ? AIMP is much nicer and ALPHA 2 is much more practical and easierWas this review helpful? 87 out of 177 users found this review helpful.
