"humble looks, but fast & powerful"
After installation it looks humble. But with a little effort, it can look anything you want. But even if you're too lazy to invest all the time to set it up to your needs, it's still strongly recommended. Because foobar is the most powerful open source audio player. It has such a small system foot print, yet is so fast. The library management is awesome, as it detects and adopts to any externel changes of the music library within seconds. If you need a bit more look & feel, install UI columns component for foobar and then make changes you need. But if you're still lazy, there are ready-made configuration files for UI columns offered by users in the foobar forum. Try it! Even if it looks too humble and confusing at first. This player is suberb! It also has the best native support for gapless playback. Other players like Winamp or iTunes need a plugin for that or do pseudo-gapless playback by using proprietary techniques that only work with those players themselves (as for iTunes which actually modifies the tags of the files in order to do that...). by: Claire de la Lune | 5 | 2009-05-19 |

"improved"
The setup has been heavily improved, so that after installation a settings wizard appears and helps you to customize foobar. No tedious work to make anymore before you can use it. Good job, although still quite nerd-like when going to the preferences of foobar. by: Kakerlake | 3 | 2009-05-08 |

"not so good"
I think it does too many things that are just useless and not intuitif. Do I need to read a 3000 page manual just listen to music ? AIMP is much nicer and ALPHA 2 is much more practical and easier by: damien | 1 | 2009-04-11 |

"back in business"
Even when it says it can be used with windows 2000, that is not true! On my new computer I am glad I can used it again and it also can be easily and without any problem be installed with wine on my linux distribution (ubuntu) by: joeres | 5 | 2008-09-23 |

"Works well, & light on resources"
Been using this media player for my MP3 files for quite a while now. It's a light weight player, and uses very little system resources. I don't need a pretty graphical interface, that would only slow things down. This is an excellent player, and the author keeps p on the maintenance of it.

"5"
This is very good player and converter. I use i to calculate replaygain on my music and to convert among different formats, and sometimes, to listen music.
The downside for me is lack of advanced playlist features, like in Winamp. But, it can be customised. It is not out-of-box player. One has to spend some time to customise it for is own use.
Anyway, great job. by: alexx | 5 | 2008-01-29 |

"not working for me"
Sorry, but what is it supposed to be? A media player??? Oh my god! I've never seen such a poor piece of software! After installation you are left with a humble interface. For techies only! by: Saucy Susan | 1 | 2008-01-03 |

"Awesome player"
seems nobody moderates the reviews on Freeware Files. Go to Neowin or Betanews for an accurate assessment of Foobar by: Isys | 5 | 2008-01-02 |
