"Contains OpenCandy spyware"
Silently installs OpenCandy spyware with no way to opt-out.
It's only mentioned at the very end of the EULA. by: Enzo | 1 | 2009-06-12 |

"Better than ever!!"
I love it! It is VERY fast (as were previous versions.) I do not get the crashes on converting .mov to mpeg4 anymore (those occurred *frequently* in version 0.6) Personally I like the extra buttons to control framesize, codec versions, etc. If you are trying to get multiple videos to match in a project but they have different formats, resolutions, frame rates, etc, then this program is a true blessing!! It has made preparation work for my DVDs a breeze. If you don't know what a button does, don't worry about it. The default settings work flawlessly. by: KingCrimson | 4 | 2009-05-27 |

"Get's a 1 for usability!"
Decent program, but it seems like they try to have a contest to see how much uglier they can make each new release look!
Why add 20 gadzillion buttons, when it's not necessary?
Buttons here, buttons there, buttons buttons everywhere! (Add another, please!) by: Horrified! | 1 | 2009-02-19 |

"Terrible!"
Configuration nightmare! Would it be possible to add the option to wash dishes too?
Why not focus on what it needed on the UI, such as:
----------------------------------------
Audio
Video (select the one they work with)
----------------------------------------
Source
Target (select file & destination)
----------------------------------------
Quality (select low, medium, or high)
Options (select manual settings)
----------------------------------------
How hard would it be to make it simple?
I don't want to spend the next 10 years learning everything there is to know about 1 program that does everything but what I really want it to do.

"Trojan codec"
It Reportedly contains the Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec
Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec is a program that typically purports to be a needed upgrade to Windows Media Player in order to view adult oriented videos on certain websites. However, Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec actually downloads and installs additional malware on the user's machine. by: Enlightened | 4 | 2008-11-17 |

MediaCoder finally matured as an excellent freeware product with every latest version where bugs have been ironed out. It can accept and convert videos from and into various formats with fast conversion speed. I enjoyed using MediaCoder. If you are an early user and have encountered bugs before, try the most latest version -- you will see a huge improvement! by: gladel | 5 | 2008-10-19 |

"A Swiss Army Knife of A/V"
Mediacoder is the Swiss Army knife of A/V, I have used it for the past 2 years to process video files from my Topfield (.REC files) to AVI and MP4 and audio REC files to MP3 format.
It takes experience to get into it, as there are few user guides, but it is far better, more flexible and quicker than commercial options.
If you are not a techie keep with it as it will reward your efforts.
All it needs is a frame to frame editor and it will be the complete thing, but Video Re Do TV Suite is the perfect tool to add before Medicoder to do this (output in MPG format).
However don't get carried away updating your version all the time and establish your own stable edition which suits you, placing any updates in a new directory and treat them as experimental until you are happy with it as bug free and it becomes your new stable version.
I have slowly expanded my area of usage of this software as my experience grows, other more techie people may well master it more quickly. by: David Thomson | 5 | 2008-07-12 |

"Powerful, but not too easy"
http://www.any-video-converter.com/ has a really powerful AND easy convertor.
Operation should be simple... Select a movie to encode, select the format, hit decode!
Advance options should be rolled up on the side, not cause confusion & hysteria when someone tries to use the program! by: Junk Buster | 5 | 2008-05-17 |
