Other Thoughts: Yes, it starts much faster than the other OOs, and this one finally seems to let go of the memory it isn't really using.
But . . . it is very large and I can still get the same results from the old battered Office 97 (yes I admit to using it, still) which on my new computer is almost too fast to use.Was this review helpful? 51 out of 100 users found this review helpful.

Other Thoughts:
Wonderful U. S. A. version of the OpenOffice for Windows that leaves the German factory of Novell (an enterprise that supports the Linux OS and it is owner of the best commercial distribution in this: Suse 10.3). Their developers are determined to make to completely compatible OpenOffice with the documents of Office 2003 and 2007, Visio, WordPerfect and T602, as well as to make it speedier in the opening of files and in the work with the same ones. For what we have seen and proven - it was incredible to see, for the first time, how it was inserted cleanly in the prior 2.4 that we had without destroying its configurations - they are getting it, making of Go OO a version with better properties that the one that leaves the one sponsored by the warehouses of Sun Microsystems officially.
We only have left an objection: Something is happening with these 2.4 - Novell or Sun - of OpenOffice, because delay our system and consume astronomically quantities of RAM when they open files or when a new document begins. Analyzing this problem we saw that partly it is related with the directory share > dict > ooo. At the moment, we do not know if this happens for the immense number of dictionaries that they bring for default or for some flaw in the dictionary.lst or for some of the files that there are. In our case, the solution has been to eliminate 90% of them - leaving those that we really need - and to rewrite the .lst. The results in Go OO has been more than stupendous.
