"The definite file manager!" by: Freeware Gourmet Q-Dir 4.40
Pros: - very fast
- very small system footprint
- elaborate functionality
- extremely easy to use
- user can choose various split-panel views (one panel, two panels, etc.)
- each panel can have tabs
- additional/optional tree-view panel for each view
- different views (thumbnail, icons, etc.)
- different color designs available
- store views/locations in favorites or as file on desktop
- lots more Cons: - options layout needs a bit of cleanup Other Thoughts: If you don't need a fancy file manager with an overload of extra functionality, but with great basic functionality that is handy and fast, then this is the software to choose. The extensive use of fast access to various panel views and tabs at your fingertips makes Q-Dir the ultimate file manager. Was this review helpful? 94 out of 197 users found this review helpful.

"Check the memory" by: Thundab0x Q-Dir 4.37
Pros: I have been using Q-Dir for a few years now, originally for its small footprint & low resource use, and still prefer it over other file managers especially as it now has tabbed windows that stay how I put them! Cons: But now it seems to be getting into being a bit of a memory hog, this seems to have crept in with the last few upgrades Other Thoughts: NoneWas this review helpful? 103 out of 203 users found this review helpful.

"Holy moly!" by: Freewarefiles Fan
Other Thoughts: Incredible file manager! Extremely fast and lightweight, yet so powerful. Updates and bug fixes are done regularly and it works like a charm on all Windows platforms. A very useful filemanager that supports multiple window panes as well as tabs! If you don't need all the bells and whistles of freeCommander, then go with Q-Dir. You won't be disappointed. It's very intuitive and easy to use.Was this review helpful? 99 out of 233 users found this review helpful.

"Updates come at lightspeed" by: Freewarefreak
Other Thoughts: This is the most awesome file manager I've ever tried. The developer is improving it continuously, ans so it is updated almost weekly. When I found some minor bug, I wrote an email to the developer, and one week later the bug was fixed already. Also had a few suggestions for improvment, which got implemented only a month later. Now that is what I call listening to the users! But above all, this little software is just great for people who don't want bloated software. It's tiny, has a small system footprint, great fucntionality and is lightning fast. Strongly recommended for every Windows XP user! Was this review helpful? 118 out of 262 users found this review helpful.

"No better than all the rest" by: Silver
Other Thoughts: Fails like all other programs of this type to preview documents - focus is on pictures - useless for previewing documents such as word, excel, ppt, etc.Was this review helpful? 200 out of 336 users found this review helpful.

"Q-Dir 3.77" by: C23
Other Thoughts: It's a nice free file manager & it's also portable which is a big plus, but my favorite (free) file manager is definitely xplorer2 lite - weird it's not available in Freeware Files, maybe because it's a "light" version of a commercial product? If so then why the (restricted) free versions of products like AVG, Ad Aware and many others are here? Was this review helpful? 144 out of 294 users found this review helpful.

"Awesome" by:
Other Thoughts: Just what I was looking for. Something simple to transfer things to portable drives without multiple windows. I wanted something simple and not overblown with useless interface. This does the trick and it does it nicely!

"Very Good" by: Freeboy
Other Thoughts: Very good software. Although freeCommander is more powerful, I prefer Q-Dir due to its easier handling and style. The only thing I miss is an integrated MD5 sum creator/checker and the ability to look into zip files. But as I don't need that very often, I can do without as well. Was this review helpful? 137 out of 253 users found this review helpful.
