Software Product Description

As the name indicates, Acronym Database is a lightweight application that provides the meanings of acronyms and other abbreviations. The software contains over 15,000 acronyms in its internal database. The database includes acronyms from different countries around the world. You can even use it to search for the descriptions of file extensions.

In case you do not find the acronym you want, the application provides you with a search facility that allows you to look for it online.

The search facility also comes in handy in quickly locating required acronyms within the internal database. Relevant matches appear as you type, and you can refine the search using things like number of columns and search method. The search methods you can select include exact match, related, anagram, containing text and same length. You can also perform an auto-search.

You can view the search results in either classic or modern style. You will also see the number of the selected item and total number of items on the upper right part of the search list.

The program displays various meanings of the selected acronym below the search results. The expansion includes what the acronym stands for, language, department and country where relevant. You can copy the details to the Clipboard using a dedicated button on the lower right part of the application window.

Apart from searching for general acronyms, the software has separate tabs for country codes, file extensions, Facebook emoticons and currency codes. In addition, you will get such system details as percentage of memory used, power and system uptime.

Cons: Their web page gives little or no information about their applications. This is very bad. I would not download any of their software.
