Many CD and DVD burning programs in the market nowadays feature the capability to burn ISO images. However, using most of the programs may not be as simple as you would like. Thankfully, you can use BlackBox ISO Burner to accomplish the task quickly and without any complication. You can also use the free ISO burner to create and mount disc images with relative ease.

Using BlackBox ISO Burner

BlackBox ISO Burner was designed for functionality, not aesthetic appeal. While we could not describe the user interface as attractive, it was intuitive and easy to use. The software did not include a help manual, but we did not see any need for one.

It featured three tabs for burning ISO files, creating or mounting disc images and getting information about the software respectively.

The first tab gave us the option to select the burner we wanted to use, which was useful considering that our system had more than one optical disc burner. We then selected the appropriate burn speed in KB/s and had the option to let the program eject the disc after burning.

We added files to burn via drag and drop, and the software displayed relevant information about them. The current version provides more information, including the name and location of the selected ISO file, size of the file, disc type and such burn details as sectors to write, last read LBA, last written LBA, estimated total time and remaining time.

Clicking the 'Burn' button started the process, which did not take a lot of time. The program displayed a notification message telling us it had successfully completed the burning process, but it did not immediately eject the disc.

The 'Make/Mount ISO' tab let us choose a name for the disc image we wanted to create. The 'Open Working Folder' button gave us space for copying and pasting the files we wanted to add to our image. We then simply clicked the 'Save ISO' button. We got a few errors, but that was understandable since it was still a work in progress.

Conclusion

BlackBox ISO Burner provides a straight forward solution to burning disc images. You can also use it to create bootable discs. The free ISO burner is compatible with Windows 7 and later operating systems, and it requires at least Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. You need to run the program with administrator privileges.
