Editor's Rating

Anyone who regularly types or edits documents knows what a hassle it can be to do so while researching on the web. Switching back and forth between your web browser and another program to create and edit files is a pain, especially if you need to do so for work. A solution to this issue is SSuite Scaramouche Touch, a browser based text editor that is lightweight and easy to use.

Using SSuite Scaramouche Touch

SSuite Scaramouche Touch is a small sized program, and it takes less than a minute to download and start using. To use the program, you simply click on it and a new tab will appear in your open browser. The interface is simple to understand and has the most used functions of most text editors, plus several capabilities that basic editors don't have. You can change your font type, color, and size, background color, text alignment, and indentation with SSuite Scaramouche Touch. If you've been using a bare bones editor, such as Windows Notepad, SSuite Scaramouche Touch will be a welcome relief as it's much easier to see your entire document and adjust it to your liking.

The number of things you can do with SSuite Scaramouche Touch is quite impressive for a free text editor. Aside from creating and editing any HTML document, you can insert tables of all sizes, print or preview documents, and drag and drop content from any web page you have open. The handy page resize, undo, and redo functions, ability to be open in multiple tabs, and touch screen compatibility add even more convenience to this tool.

SSuite Scaramouche Touch is a mere 46 KB in size, making it no problem to install on your PC or tablet. It's HTML5 compliant and works with OS-X, iOS, Linux, Android, and Windows systems. You can use SSuite Scaramouche Touch with just about any web browser, but you'll experience the best results with Firefox, Chromium, Opera, or Google Chrome.

SSuite Scaramouche Touch eliminates the need to make an account, link to social media, or pay a fee just to edit a file, practices that have made other document and text editors infamous. Whether you use your PC to work or not, this free text editor is great for simply typing out spur of the moment notes. Looking at an online store ad and want to make a shopping list? Type it on SSuite Scaramouche Touch and then click to print. Need to write down contact information that you found online, but don't have a pen and paper handy? If you download this program, that won't be an issue. Because it's so useful, easy to use, and free, SSuite Scaramouche Touch is a definite must-try.

"Very useful"

Pros: This is actually the first SSuite software that I've actually found useful. It's a really fast way of writing simple text notes, but due to its HTML base, all kinds of formatting can also be added. It works just great in Firefox, and in the K-Meleon browser as well.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: For those with a knowledge of CSS, you can change the appearance of this editor to your liking quite easily; I've done just that. Just keep a backup of the original in case you screw up. By the way, make sure you aren't blocking JavaScript when using this editor, otherwise its functions will be disabled. And don't use the browser's internal file save feature; this saves the editor, not the new document. Use the button in the editor.
