Are you interested in a basic image processing program that you can use to perform basic editing tasks and even create a slideshow? Then Xlideit Image Viewer is your answer. You can even set it as your default viewer.

Using Xlideit

We did not need to install the software and make changes to the System Registry. We simply extracted it to a folder and created a desktop shortcut for accessing it conveniently. When we launched it, it started in full screen mode by default, but we easily changed it to window mode by pressing F11.

The free image viewer automatically displayed the images in our 'Pictures' folder, with their thumbnails appearing on the lower part of the interface. Clicking a thumbnail opened the corresponding image in the preview window above the thumbnails pane. Alternatively, we could scroll through the pictures by clicking the left and right arrows that appeared at the sides of the preview pane when we moved the mouse pointer to the sides.

The image editor displayed basic tools for deleting, cropping and resizing images. It also allowed us to open a selected image with our default editor. We could display a sidebar that allowed us to perform different functions.

The program had a separate window that allowed us to perform various tasks. It featured four tabs for viewer, image, list and settings. The viewer tab let us specify the way we wanted the program to display images. For example, we could specify whether we wanted to hide or show thumbnails and where we wanted to show them. We could also configure mouse functions in addition to other viewer options.

The Image tab let us choose the picture details that we wanted to display, including tooltips, toolbars, labels, image size, file size, file type, list number, zoom level and image pixels among others. We could also let the application play multimedia files and show player controls. We specified the format in which we wanted to save the edited images and whether we wanted to save the original files.

The List tab let us configure things like slideshow mode, delay and effect, folder view style and whether we wanted the software to save settings on exit.

The Settings tab allowed us to add the application shortcut to the start menu and desktop, associate the software with specified image file types, use image cache and select the types of multimedia files that we wanted it to display.

Conclusion

Xlideit Image Viewer is a simple tool for viewing and editing images and creating slideshows from them. The program supports many keyboard shortcuts that make it more convenient to use.
