One of the benefits of using vector graphics is the fact that images can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. The file sizes are also relatively smaller, which makes them more convenient to store and share. You need special programs to create vector graphics, such as Vectr for Windows, a simple and free graphics editor that creates powerful results. The software features intuitive tools that make it easy to create beautiful graphic designs.

Using Vectr for Windows

Vectr for Windows is designed for average designers because it parses things down to make them easy to use. We needed to create and log into our account to start using the free graphics software. Once we had logged in, the program opened a dashboard featuring menu and side bars as well as creation boxes.

We opened the workspace by clicking the "New File" button located to the top right side of the user interface. The workspace contained a board, editor and toolbar. We set the page the way we wanted at the lower right part of the editor where a drop-down menu allowed us to select a template size. Alternatively, we could create our own custom size. The default measuring unit was pixel, but we could change the unit if we wanted.

Vectr for Windows allowed us to do different things using various tools, including text, snap lines, rectangle and overlay tools. We could choose existing images and add them to our design. For example, we could easily change the background of our text using an image. We dragged control points to adjust the size of the image as we wanted, and we maintained image proportions by holding down the SHIFT key as we dragged the image.

We also had several filters to enhance our designs.

We could create different designs, including presentations, posters, logos, icons, illustrations, websites, brochures, greeting and business cards.

Once we had created our designs, we could save them on our computer or online, export them to JPG or PNG image formats or share them with others. We could even collaborate with colleagues in real time by sending them a URL for accessing the design.

Conclusion

Vectr for Windows makes it easy for first-time users to embark on vector drawings without the need for a steep learning curve. The software may be too parsed down for professional designers, but is has more than enough tools for average users. You need to create an account to use the program.
