not only muy local hard disk
but other disks or backup cds or dvds
however I need to "index" time to time
whith "Everything" I exclude
Windows, Programs files and
Documents and settings
then I got at least my local data indexed pretty fast

I've been using File Seeker for quite a while,but I've now switched to using Everything. It does all I need in a file search utility & it does it as fast as I can type the search term!

"Unbelievably Fast Search Util!"
This is an amazingly fast file and folder searching utility. I've never come across a utility that searches so much so quickly. And, yes, in terms of speed, it even blows away Agent Ransack -- and that's not small praise. So, if you want to find files on your local NTFS drives, this is definitely the tool for you. Unfortunately, the standalone Everything can't index mapped drives UNLESS the mapped drive already has a copy of Everything installed on it already. Still, that caveat aside, this is a fantastic search utility, one that's well worth the download.

I've never been moved to write a review before, but this "little" gem is absolutely great. I used to use Agent Ransack because it was faster then XP's search, but no more. This one burns by anything I've ever used.

I like the ease of the program. Unlike the windows version which takes longer, this program is instant! Must have if your looking for a file, video, or jpg, you need this.

It will scan and index your computer in about 1 minute. Windows should come with this search engine. This is the only search program I use.
